The Future of Computers-Stick PCs

People in the geekdom have been talking about the death of the “personal computers since a long time. The sales of the personal computers have been declining slowly even when they are becoming faster, and more powerful while the sales of compact devices like smart phones, laptops and tablets has been increasing. The future of tech looks to be heading in a direction where everything is not only getting more powerful but also more compact. PCs are called personal computers for a reason.

They are stable, powerful and “personal”.  Everybody has one. But the future of PCs looks bleak. At least the future of PCs as we know them. A new kind of PCs has been making ripples in the ever-changing and growing computer market. The next generation of Personal computers, the stick PCs or better known as PC on a stick. These computer sticks are not small pen drive sized devices with a Personal Computer fixed inside them. These mini PCs on a stick are not only small but also have enough power to help you do your day to day work like internet browsing and editing documents, as well as heavy multimedia tasks such as image and audio editing.

These slightly larger than USB memory stick devices can be plugged into any HDMI display to turn your PC on a stick into a fully functional PC. Most of these devices come with a GB or 2 of RAM, alongside a quad core processor and have inbuilt storage of up to 32 GB which can be extended using micro SD cards. Not only this but most of these devices also have all necessary connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. Various tech giants are soon going to enter the stick PC market with a number of offerings that will run a variety of operating systems ranging from Windows 8 to Linux and Android.
